Copywriting Company | Working From Home - 8 Tips To Keep You Sane!
The whole world is going through a lot right now and many of us have found ourselves suddenly working from home. A complete change of pace can cause a huge disturbance to our work-life and with kids and pets at home, the distractions are endless. Just remember to remind yourself that this is not forever. You can learn to optimize this new set-up for the time being - and before you know it, you'll be loving your new work routine!
1. Remember to get outside!
Be sure to follow your state's restrictions and guidelines, but there's nothing stopping you from stepping into the backyard for a bit of fresh air. Sunshine can do wonders to brighten your mood on even the hardest of days. Go for a walk, purchase that hammock you’ve been wanting to splurge on… this is your moment!
2. Have a separate YOU space
With the whole family home at the same time as you, you're probably being hit with distractions left and right. Plugin some headphones, find that soft coffee shop music you love and zone in. Create a space in your home that will be strictly your workspace for the time being. If limited space is available, designate a spot at the kitchen table as yours and stick to it!
3. Have a planner
It's hard to keep track of the million projects you have going on and working from home will only magnify the little things you have to get done. Don't fret, things will be checked off that to-do list but first - make the list! Organize by prioritizing each bullet point and try to get three things done every day, big or small. You'll feel so much better at the end of the day and confident that you can check three more off the next day.
4. Designated working time
Schedule out your day before it starts. Know when you want to start work and when you want to finish! Too often we find ourselves sidetracked with other tasks and put off starting work until too late in the day. You’ll find yourself in the wee hours of the night, tired and stressed just trying to finish up that last bit of work. No one wants that! Follow your schedule like you would at the office and remember that you can be just as sufficient at home as you can at work!
5. Get up and move!
After every 40 minutes or so of sitting, get up and move a little. It doesn't have to be much, maybe a walk around the yard or some stretching but try to keep it under 5 minutes. Deep breathing with some light yoga moves could make all the difference in your attitude and your posture. While you're up, have a glass of cold water to keep yourself feeling refreshed and hydrated.
6. Dress up for yourself
Wake up, wash your face, and get dressed! It doesn't have to be fancy. Stick to comfort but you'll feel ready to tackle the day. Washing your face wakes you up and signals a new day while changing out of your pajamas keeps you feeling clean and cozy. It's hard enough being inside all day, keeping in routine can help us from feeling down. Everyone feels a little better when dressed and ready for the new day!
7. Eat smaller portions
This will keep you energized throughout the day and by avoiding large meals, you will prevent yourself from falling into the wonderful but dreadful, ‘food coma’. Having nutritional snacks like nuts or fruit on hand will keep you from reaching for the chips and make sure your brain is working at full power all day. Too much sugar will be the death of your workday, protein is the key to success!
8. Positive mantras are key
Remind yourself every day that while this change is temporary, you can use it to your best advantage. You will get your work done and you will exceed all expectations! Be grateful for this opportunity to spend time with your loved ones, even if it’s a grim circumstance. If we let ourselves fall into the pit of negativity that feels so close, it will be hard to come back out. Enjoy the little things, the birds are still chirping and you're still grooving!
Best wishes to everyone, we hope you are staying healthy and productive during your time indoors! This too shall pass, and we will appreciate our world even more than we did before.
